Volunteer Product Manager: Start Small Today (SST) – Internal GPT Tool
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Volunteer Product Manager to lead the ongoing development and optimization of our internal GPT-powered tool, Start Small Today (SST). In this role, you will own the product vision and execution strategy, ensuring SST evolves in alignment with organizational needs and contributes to operational efficiency across teams.
Role Summary
The Volunteer Product Manager oversees the full product lifecycle for SST, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to drive adoption, deliver enhancements, and ensure measurable value. This role combines strategic planning, hands-on execution, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Product Vision & Strategy: Define, maintain, and communicate the product vision, strategy, and multi-phase roadmap for SST in alignment with organizational priorities.
Backlog & Delivery Management: Prioritize and manage the product backlog, guiding features and improvements from ideation to delivery while ensuring timely, high-quality execution.
Stakeholder Engagement: Lead stakeholder communication, solicit and synthesize feedback, and translate input into actionable product decisions.
Risk & Issue Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate product-related risks, providing clear visibility to relevant leaders and partners.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with marketing, pod managers, and other functional teams to define solutions, draft user stories, and drive Agile product workflows.
Adoption & Change Management: Promote internal adoption by developing training, documentation, and support materials, and by acting as a resource for user questions and onboarding.
Performance Measurement: Establish and monitor KPIs to evaluate product effectiveness, impact, and ROI; use insights to inform ongoing improvements.
Program Alignment & Monitoring: Track SST usage and user acceptance within the Propel program (https://www.bizleadhers.org/our-programs), analyze patterns and gaps, and provide recommendations to strengthen integration and program-level effectiveness.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience: Background in product management, ideally involving internal tools, SaaS platforms, or AI/ML products.
Skills: Strong organizational leadership, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities; ability to work across teams with clarity and structure.
Mindset: Analytical, data-driven, and comfortable iterating quickly in an Agile environment.
Availability: Able to contribute approximately 10–15 hours per week.
Passion: Enthusiasm for AI, technology, and improving internal workflows and user experiences.
