    Description

    The Treasurer on our Board of Directors serves as the lead officer for financial oversight. The Treasurer is responsible for working with our bookkeeper to ensure the fiscal health and the self-supporting nature of our organization. The Treasurer works with the Finance Committee to guide the budget process, reports to the board at our monthly meetings on financial status, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and reviews the annual audit.

    Serving on the Board of Directors of The West Chester Area Day Care Center (https://wcadaycare.org/) includes attending monthly meetings that take place on the last Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm (majority via Zoom), attending any special meetings or events of the Board of Directors, the Finance Committee and the Executive Committee, and being available via email to review reports, respond to issues and attend to the Board of Directors duties.

    The Board of Directors have the following duties:

    1. Adopting rules, regulations and policies consistent with the purposes of the organization.
    2. Establishing standing and ad hoc committees in the Board of Director's discretion and to delegate to such committees such powers as are necessary. The current ad hoc committees include the executive committee, the finance committee, the HR committee, the fundraising committee and the facilities committee.
    3. Appointing or employing such persons as may be needed in the business of the organization and to define their duties and set their compensation.
    4. Borrowing money, buying, selling or otherwise disposing of the organization's assets.
    5. Appointing and hiring an Executive Director to manage the organization's services and staff.
    6. Supporting and assisting, when necessary, the Executive Director with:

    i. public relations for the organization;

    ii. the organization's building and grounds;

    iii. the purchasing of materials, supplies and equipment; and

    iv. the growth and development of the organization.

    1. Contributing financially to the organization based on each Board Member's financial ability.
    2. Attending organization activities when possible. These include: our monthly board meetings on the last Wednesday of each month, special meetings of the Board of Directors, any ad hoc committee meetings as mentioned above (via Zoom as of March 2020), as well as our annual Breakfast with Santa and fundraising events.
    3. Along with other members, recruiting new directors to serve on our Board.
