    Job Description:

    Kid Power Inc. seeks a detail-oriented and motivated Development & Data Intern interested in nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, and strategic growth. This internship provides valuable experience in fundraising operations, grant research, and event planning.

    Reports To: Development & Communications Associate

    Who We Are:

    At Kid Power, we fuel youth leadership in underserved communities across DC by fostering academic achievement, emotional wellness, and positive civic engagement. Through our holistic, whole-child approach, we empower DC youth to transform not only their own lives but also the communities to which they belong. The Development Team at Kid Power delivers thoughtful storytelling through external and stakeholder communications, as well as support of the overall nonprofit through grant research and writing.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Donor Stewardship: Assist with donor communications, acknowledgments, and engagement efforts.
    • Database Management: Conduct database cleanup and ensure donor and prospect data accuracy.
    • Grant Research: Identify and compile information on potential foundation and corporate funding opportunities.
    • Event Support: Assist with special event planning, including outreach for in-kind donations, sponsorships, and auction items.
    • Administrative Support: Provide general office support as needed.

    Qualifications:

    • Strong writing and research skills.
    • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
    • Comfortable managing data and working with spreadsheets/databases.
    • Interest in nonprofit fundraising, grant writing, or philanthropy.
    • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to follow through on projects with minimal supervision.

    General

    • Attends all pertinent trainings and team meetings.
    • Communicates regularly with supervisory team members.
    • Responds to all communications and correspondence within 24 hours.

    Time Frame: All dates subject to change

    • Mid-September 2025 - Mid-June 2026
    • 20-25 hours per week
    • Suggested hours: 10 AM - 3 PM
    • Regular meetings and trainings

    Job Type: Volunteer Internship

    Ability to commute:

    • Washington, DC: Reliably commute.
    • Work Location: Hybrid with opportunities to visit on-site starting January 2026.
