    Description

Food Shelf Volunteer, Tuesdays from 12-3:30pm

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support our clients during their shopping experience. This is a wonderful time to get to know others and while they access an important resource. Food Shelf Volunteers will also work with the warehouse volunteers to make sure the shelves are fully stocked at all times, which includes notifying the Warehouse Volunteers when items are running low and occasionally stocking as needed. We ask that volunteers in this position be able to stand for 1-2 hours at a time and lift a minimum of 10 pounds. There are typically four food shelf volunteers per shift.

We proudly serve a diverse community, and many of our clients speak languages other than English. If you're bilingual or multilingual, your skills are especially valuable to us! We encourage you to apply and help us make our services more accessible to everyone.

Volunteers in the food shelf rotate through 4 different area assignments including:

    • Welcome Volunteer (prepare carts, greet shoppers, and stock produce refrigerators)
    • Dry Goods Area (Stock bread and bakery, let warehouse know if we are running short on canned goods, assist shoppers)
    • Meat Market Person (Explains meat quantities, help shoppers with personal care and household items)
    • Scale and Check Out Person (Help shopper weigh cart, record food weight, and may enter weight in computer if comfortable)

360 Communities listens to the people we serve and responding directly to their feedback. We surveyed our food shelf customers and found that they wanted more healthy food options and an experience that surrounds them with friends and support.

The 360 Communities food shelf network has evolved to offer a store-like shopping experience with nutritious options for our neighbors. All five 360 Communities network food shelves feature healthy choice shopping. Food shelf guests can choose groceries that fit their family’s needs.
