    Position Description

    Pacific Symphony is seeking a motivated and creative Social Media Intern to join our team as we continue to connect with our audience and share our passion for classical and live orchestral music. The intern must have completed social media content creation classes and have a skillset in content creation and graphic design. Ideally, video production experience as well. This unpaid internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of arts and cultural digital communications while working closely with our Director of Communications and VP of Marketing & Communications.

    Responsibilities

    1. Join Marketing & Communications team in brainstorming new content calendar ideas for social media.
    2. Social Media Content Creation: Assist social media agency in generation engaging and visually appealing content for Pacific Symphony's social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
    3. Content Planning: Collaborate with the Communications Director and Vice President of Marketing & Communications as well as social media agency to develop a content calendar that aligns with Pacific Symphony's goals, performance schedule, and promotional campaigns.
    4. Community Engagement: Foster an active and vibrant online community by responding to comments, messages, and inquiries from followers and fans under supervision of Director of Communications.
    5. Social Media Analytics: Assist in monitoring and analyzing social media performance using relevant tools and platforms. Assist social media agency with monthly reports and insights to help optimize our social media strategy and executional marketing.
    6. Promotional Campaigns: Assist in the development and execution of marketing and promotional campaigns to drive brand awareness, audience engagement, and ticket sales.
    7. Live Event Coverage: Work with Director of Communications and Vice President of Marketing & Communications to attend and cover Pacific Symphony concerts and events. This content would be shared with the social media agency, Director of Communications and Vice President of Marketing & Communications, who will share behind-the-scenes content with live updates.
    8. Research and Trends: Stay current with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices in order to keep our online presence fresh and innovative.
    9. Participate in one social media project during the term/semester and report on it to the wider Marketing & Communications team.

    Qualifications

    • Experience as a social media content creator - graphic design experience, video content creation, writing experience.
    • Familiarity with and an affinity for classical music and live orchestral music.
    • Proficiency in and passion for using various social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Basic knowledge of social media analytics and reporting.
    • Self-motivated, reliable, able to work independently and ability to attend evening events and performances.
    • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Marketing, Music, or a related field is preferred.
