    Description

    A DV (Domestic Violence) Victim Advocate assists clients or potential clients with the process of filing for an injunction for protection/restraining order.This position is located at the Melbourne, Viera and Titusville courthouse locations. The volunteer will be there to guide clients through the paperwork and court process as well as provide emotional support during the actual hearing for the injunction.This position is vital to the success of our Victim Services program. We will train you!

    The Women's Center provides 1 day of in-house training and 16 hours of shadowing with an experienced DV Advocate. A one year commitment is desired with a minimum of 4 hours per week. We are looking for candidates with background that is supportive to this position (i.e. - law, victim advocacy, sociology, nursing, women's studies, human services, etc.).

    Assistance is also needed at the Women’s Center Aurora location with follow up phone calls and data entry.
