    Description

    Apprentice Caseworker

Do you want to make a positive contribution while serving Sailors, Marines and their families?

We rely on volunteers to provide relief assistance to service members and their families. You can give back to military by volunteering with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society!

Training is provided for all casework volunteers. No previous experienced required.

    • Serve as the client’s ambassador while providing financial and other resources to meet client's needs.
    • Analyze client assistance requests, complete required verifications, assess budget, and review previous casework history.
    • Develop a budget with service members, their eligible dependents or retired service members.
    • Evaluate whether needs presented can be met within NMCRS relief policies.
    • Recommend appropriate resources to clients that best suit their needs.
    • Approve no interest loans in accordance with NMCRS guidelines.
    • Consult with a mentor to determine whether to assist or recommend other services.
    • Present requests for exceptions to Headquarters Caseworkers, with concurrence of the Director or designee.
    • Complete required documentation using NMCRS software programs

Benefits: Have fun while giving back to the community. Find purpose. Network and make friends. Attend volunteer recognition events/dinners. Make a positive impact serving military families. Build your resume. Receive job references and letters of appreciation. Volunteers learn valuable skills in customer service, business administration, teambuilding, leadership, expand their knowledge of the military community and its resources, and so much more! Childcare expenses and miles traveled to/from NMCRS will be reimbursed while you volunteer.

This is a great match for new military spouses/families hoping to engage in the local community, spouses/families looking to build resumes or fill gaps in employment, and military families hoping to make new connections in Lemoore after a PCS.
