LEDI is seeking a Volunteer Grant Writer to assist in researching and writing compelling grant proposals. As a key member of our development team, you will help secure vital funding that enables LEDI to implement and scale its impactful initiatives and programs. This volunteer role requires a strong ability to communicate LEDI’s mission, goals, and the importance of our work in an effective and persuasive way.

    Responsibilities:
    • Research: Identify and research potential funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other funding sources.
    • Grant Proposals: Write clear, well-researched, and persuasive grant proposals that align with LEDI's mission and programmatic goals.
    • Grant Applications: Manage the full cycle of grant applications, including gathering necessary data, writing proposals, submitting applications, and tracking deadlines.
    • Reporting: Assist in the preparation of progress and final reports for funders, ensuring that all milestones and financial expenditures are clearly communicated.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with LEDI’s program managers and financial team to gather relevant information and data for grant proposals.
    Required Skills:
    • Proven experience in grant writing, preferably in the non-profit sector or international development.
    • Strong research skills and the ability to identify relevant grant opportunities.
    • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to tailor content to different audiences (foundations, government entities, corporations).
    • Attention to detail, including experience with monitoring grant deadlines, tracking deliverables, and compiling reports.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple grant applications simultaneously.
    • Passion for international development, economic growth, and social impact, particularly in Africa.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Familiarity with global development funding landscapes and/or working with US based and international nonprofit organizations.
    • Knowledge of grant management tools and platforms (e.g., Foundant, Fluxx, or similar).
    • Experience in developing proposals for education, economic development, entrepreneurship, etc.
    Why Volunteer With Us:
    • Make a Tangible Impact: Your work will help secure crucial funding for initiatives that promote sustainable economic development.
    • Gain Experience: Enhance your grant writing portfolio by working with a well-respected international non-profit.
    • Flexible, Remote Role: This is a fully remote position with flexible hours, making it ideal for US-based volunteers looking to contribute to global causes while working from home.
