    Community Engagement Volunteer - Wilmington, NC or surrounding area

    Overview

    Not Defined By FND is a nonprofit organization on a mission to end stigma and bring awareness, advocate for research and treatments, and create conversations to bring needed changes and hope for all FND warriors. We believe that building local partnerships and fostering community support are key to advancing our mission and amplifying our impact.

    As the Volunteer Community Engagement Coordinator, you will focus on increasing awareness of our organization at the local level. This includes forging relationships with local businesses, organizations, and community leaders, as well as coordinating outreach efforts and initiatives to expand our visibility and support.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Local Outreach:
      • Identify and engage with local businesses, community groups, and organizations to build partnerships and support for Not Defined By FND’s mission.
      • Distribute promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and posters to raise awareness in the local community.
    • Awareness Campaigns:
      • Assist with local awareness events, such as educational workshops, information booths, and fundraising activities.
      • Collaborate with team members to tailor campaigns that resonate with local audiences.
    • Partnership Building:
      • Develop and nurture relationships with local businesses and organizations to secure sponsorships, in-kind donations, and event collaborations.
      • Work with local media outlets to feature the organization’s work and impact in the community.

    Qualifications

    • Location: Must be in Wilmington, NC or surrounding area.
    • Skills and Experience:
      • Experience in community outreach, marketing, or event planning is a plus.
      • Strong interpersonal and networking skills.
      • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with diverse audiences.
      • Comfortable using basic digital tools for organizing outreach efforts (e.g., email, social media, spreadsheets).
    • Personal Attributes:
      • Passionate about raising awareness and advocating for FND warriors.
      • Friendly, approachable, and able to build relationships quickly.
      • Self-motivated and organized, with a focus on achieving measurable goals.

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible schedule, approximately 5-10 hours per week. Some activities may require occasional evenings or weekends for events.
