About Mentor A Promise

Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City nonprofit dedicated to supporting children and youth ages 5–18 experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, creative expression, and community-centered innovation.

Thread & Promise is MAP’s fashion and design initiative—using fashion as storytelling, culture, and social impact. Our work blends ethical design, sustainability, and youth voice to create pieces that carry meaning, dignity, and purpose.

Why This Role Matters

The TikTok Content Creator – Fashion Brand helps translate Thread & Promise’s values into short-form visual storytelling that feels authentic, creative, and human—not performative or trend-chasing for its own sake.

This role exists to show how and why we design: the process, the people, the stories, and the care behind each piece. TikTok is a tool for connection, not extraction.

What You’ll Do

• Create short-form TikTok content highlighting Thread & Promise fashion pieces, design process, and brand values.
• Develop content ideas that showcase craftsmanship, culture, sustainability, and storytelling.
• Film and edit TikTok videos (behind-the-scenes, styling, process clips, storytelling moments).
• Collaborate with Fashion Designers, Multimedia team, and Marketing leads.
• Stay aware of TikTok trends while adapting them thoughtfully to fit brand values.
• Support cross-posting content to Instagram Reels when appropriate.
• Maintain a consistent, respectful visual tone aligned with Thread & Promise identity.
• Participate in creative planning check-ins.
• Check and respond to emails daily, with responses within 48 hours.
• Take responsibility for performance improvement by refining content based on feedback and analytics.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience creating TikTok or short-form video content (fashion, lifestyle, or storytelling).
• Strong eye for visuals, pacing, and tone.
• Comfort filming and editing content independently (phone-based editing is fine).
• Ability to tell stories visually, not just follow trends.
• Interest in ethical fashion, sustainability, or culture-driven brands.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Bonus (Not Required)

• Experience with fashion brands or design content
• On-camera comfort (optional—can also be behind the camera)
• Familiarity with TikTok analytics and growth strategies
• Bilingual or multilingual abilities (Spanish or Haitian Creole preferred)

Commitment

• Volunteer role, approximately 5–10 hours per week
• Minimum 6-month commitment preferred
• Remote collaboration via Google Meet, with optional NYC-based shoots
• MAP prioritizes sustainability, care, and authenticity over virality
