Position Overview:

As our Media Relations Coordinator, you'll be instrumental in amplifying SelfSoulLiberate's voice in Dallas by connecting with local media, securing impactful coverage, and building strong relationships to advance our mission of health equity and mental wellness.

Role Description:

We are seeking a proactive, communicative, and detail-oriented Media Relations Coordinator to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local media outlets and journalists in Dallas, Texas. This remote volunteer position is crucial for enhancing SelfSoulLiberate's visibility, ensuring our stories reach key audiences, and effectively communicating our impact on under-resourced communities. You will play a key role in drafting compelling press materials, coordinating media interviews, and tracking our media presence to amplify our advocacy efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cultivate and maintain relationships with local media contacts, including journalists, editors, and producers in Dallas, TX.
• Draft and distribute compelling press materials, such as press releases, media advisories, fact sheets, and pitches that highlight SelfSoulLiberate's initiatives and impact.
• Identify media opportunities and proactively pitch stories and experts to secure positive coverage for the organization.
• Coordinate media interviews and prepare spokespersons with key messaging and background information.
• Monitor and track media coverage of SelfSoulLiberate, compiling reports on media mentions and their impact.
• Assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive media relations strategy for the Dallas area.
• Collaborate closely with the communications and leadership teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational goals.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience (typically 1-2+ years) in media relations, public relations, or journalism, ideally within a non-profit or community-focused setting.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to craft persuasive and clear messaging.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with media contacts.
• Highly organized with strong project management skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, take initiative, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a remote environment.
• Familiarity with local Dallas media landscape is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in standard office software (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite) and virtual communication tools.
