    Recruiter & Engagement Lead (Volunteer)

    About A&N Career Services Project

The A&N Career Services Project is a workforce and career-readiness initiative focused on expanding access to opportunity for individuals navigating career transitions, workforce re-entry, and professional growth. Our work centers people, dignity, and alignment between talent and real-world workforce needs.

As a growing initiative, the Project is currently in its launch phase, building the systems, partnerships, and programs that will support long-term impact. Volunteers play a meaningful role in shaping this foundation and contributing professional expertise in service of economic mobility and workforce access.

    About the Role

The A&N Career Services Project is seeking a Volunteer Recruiter & Engagement Lead to help design and lead the Project’s early-stage volunteer recruitment function. This role focuses on identifying, engaging, and aligning volunteers and mentors with program needs -ensuring the right people are invited into the work at the right time.

This role is well suited for someone with experience in HR, recruiting, or talent strategy who enjoys building pipelines, connecting people to purpose-driven work, and creating structure where none yet exists. You will help shape how volunteers are recruited, organized, and prepared to engage during this foundational phase.

    What You Will Do

    • Design and lead volunteer recruitment efforts aligned with program priorities and cohort needs
    • Build early recruitment processes, including intake workflows, tracking tools, and volunteer pipelines
    • Source volunteers across multiple roles, including mentors who cycle in and out of programming
    • Develop creative strategies to recruit both location-specific and virtual volunteers
    • Identify and engage talent through professional associations, HR and workforce networks, universities, alumni groups, corporate ERGs, affinity groups, and community-based organizations
    • Respond to initial volunteer inquiries and conduct structured interest conversations
    • Assess alignment between volunteer skills, interests, availability, and program needs
    • Maintain a centralized, living roster of volunteers, including mentors and corporate volunteers
    • Collaborate with program leadership to anticipate upcoming volunteer and mentor needs
    • Partner with the Volunteer Experience & Onboarding Manager to support a smooth transition from recruitment into onboarding for each cohort

You will be a good fit if you have

    • Prior experience in HR, recruiting, talent acquisition, volunteer management, or workforce development
    • Someone who genuinely enjoys recruitment and relationship-building
    • Comfort creating systems and processes in a launch-stage environment
    • Strong communication, judgment, and follow-through
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
    • Alignment with people-centered, equity-informed workforce and career readiness work
    • Familiarity with regional ecosystems (e.g., Atlanta, Chicago, or other workforce hubs) is a plus, but not required

    What You Will Gain

    • Leadership-level volunteer experience building a recruitment function from the ground up
    • Portfolio-ready experience in volunteer recruitment strategy and systems design
    • Professional references upon successful completion of the cohort
    • Mentorship opportunities with experienced leaders in HR and workforce development
    • Opportunities to meet and engage with the public, prospective volunteers, mentors, and community partners connected to the Project
    • Inclusion in a growing professional network connected to the A&N Career Services Project
    • A meaningful opportunity to apply professional expertise in service of long-term community impact
