    About MYTT

Mentoring Youth Through Technology (MYTT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring, educating, and mentoring youth ages 6–18 through the power of technology. We serve communities across the Greater Chicago area and Northwest Indiana to empower them to become innovators rather than consumers.

    The Role of the Board

Board members at MYTT play a critical role in advancing our mission. They bring leadership, professional insight, and active engagement to help guide the strategic direction and sustainability of the organization. We welcome board applicants from diverse backgrounds who are passionate about youth development, STEM equity, and community transformation.

    Key Responsibilities

    Board members are expected to:

    • Attend and actively participate in monthly board meetings
    • Support and attend quarterly events, including fundraising and outreach
    • Dedicate approximately 2–4 hours per month to board-related activities
    • Serve a renewable two-year term

    Fundraising & Outreach

As ambassadors of MYTT, board members are expected to:

    • Introduce MYTT to individuals in their network
    • Help identify potential donors, partners, volunteers, or board candidates
    • Participate in fundraising efforts and events (training and support provided)

    Desired Qualities

While no specific qualifications are required, ideal candidates demonstrate:

    • A genuine commitment to MYTT’s mission and values
    • Interest or experience in STEM, education, youth mentorship, or nonprofit leadership
    • Willingness to engage, listen, learn, and lead
    • Professional skills, networks, or lived experiences that can benefit the organization

    Time Commitment

    • 2–4 hours per month
    • Monthly virtual/in-person board meetings
    • Occasional event participation (in-person or virtual)
    • Flexible committee involvement based on interests and availability
