    About the Opportunity

    We’re excited to welcome volunteers to help us grow and enhance several meaningful platforms, including MatchingDonors.com, DailyTransplantNews.com, DailyDiabetesNews.com, IrishDailyTransplantNews.com, and our partnered mobile communication platform that connects individuals with mentors through video interactions: https://tikr.is.

    You’ll have the opportunity to work with a variety of technologies across our existing applications, including native iOS (Swift/SwiftUI), Android (Kotlin), WordPress, ColdFusion, and React web applications. We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers who are interested in contributing to all of these platforms.

    This volunteer role offers hands-on experience in real-world web and software development, and the chance to build a strong professional portfolio—all while making a positive social impact.

    We warmly welcome eligible students with OPT or CPT (F-1 status) to apply. Volunteers can contribute at least 20 hours per week.

    What You’ll Do

    • Helping us grow and enhance several meaningful platforms, including MatchingDonors.com, DailyTransplantNews.com, DailyDiabetesNews.com, IrishDailyTransplantNews.com, and our partnered mobile communication platform that connects individuals with mentors through video interactions: https://tikr.is.
    • Collaborate with a friendly, mission-driven team to design, develop, and improve mobile and web applications!
    • Help implement new features that support our mentorship matching service, including free and paid video communication.
    • Enhance user experience (UX/UI) and overall platform functionality.
    • Participate in code reviews and share thoughtful, constructive feedback.
    • Help maintain clear documentation and communicate effectively with the development team.
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices.

    What We’re Looking For

    Proven Experience in one or more of the following areas:

    • Web Design
    • iOS Development: Swift, Swift UI
    • Android Development: Kotlin
    • Web Development: JavaScript/TypeScript, React
    • WordPress
    • ColdFusion
    • SQL Server

    Plus:

    • A solid understanding of web and software development fundamentals
    • Familiarity with version control tools like Git and platforms such as GitHub
    • Coursework or experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
    • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset
    • Clear communication and teamwork abilities

    Nice to Have

    • Experience building websites with WordPress, ColdFusion, and SQL Server
    • Exposure to backend technologies such as Golang or Node.js
    • Familiarity with APIs and cloud services (AWS, Firebase, etc.)
    • Experience working in agile development environments.
