    Description

    Marketing & Social Media Volunteer

The Institute for Families and Nannies (TIFFAN) is a San Francisco–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that creates educational and career pathways for in-home childcare providers to meet the growing demand for high-quality childcare.

    Position overview

TIFFAN seeks a Marketing & Social Media Volunteer to support its social media, email, and basic digital marketing efforts 2–3 hours per week, with a small stipend and opportunity to start immediately. This role is ideal for someone with marketing, communications, or early childhood experience interested in gaining hands-on experience in a mission-driven nonprofit positioned to scale.

    Key responsibilities

      • Plan, draft, and schedule 2–3 weekly posts on Facebook and Instagram aligned with TIFFAN’s brand voice, programs, and calendar.
      • Collaborate with the Executive Director, teachers, and student ambassadors to source stories, quotes, and program highlights for content.
      • Design on-brand graphics and social assets using TIFFAN’s color palette, logo, and existing design elements.
      • Source and organize photos (from TIFFAN programs or approved stock) to accompany posts, newsletters, and campaigns.
      • Create and send a monthly HubSpot newsletter featuring upcoming programs, student stories, and organizational updates.
      • Assist with occasional flyers, one-off email marketing campaigns, and event promotions.
      • Track basic metrics (opens, clicks, reach, engagement) and share simple insights at monthly team meetings.
      • Optional/plus: build simple HubSpot marketing automations (e.g., welcome sequences, re-engagement emails, event follow-ups) with support and guidance.

    Qualifications

      • Strong writing skills and comfort creating concise, engaging social media copy.
      • Basic design skills and familiarity with tools such as Canva, Adobe Express, or similar.
      • Interest in early childhood education, childcare, workforce development, or social impact.
      • Ability to collaborate remotely, take feedback, and meet weekly content deadlines.
      • Experience with HubSpot or other email/CRM tools is helpful but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
      • Plus: curiosity about building simple email or workflow automations for marketing campaigns.

    Time commitment and benefits

      • Expected time commitment of 2–3 hours per week, plus attendance at a monthly all-team meeting.
      • Minimum 3-month commitment; 9 months preferred to support continuity and learning.
      • Small stipend available, along with mentorship from the Executive Director and exposure to nonprofit operations and program growth.
      • Opportunity to build a portfolio of real-world social media, email, and campaign work for a mission-driven organization.
