    Description

Be a Lifeline for Homebound Seniors in Peoria!

The Benevilla Home Services program has need for volunteers to help low income, homebound seniors living in south Peoria. These individuals need help with activities such as grocery shopping and rides to medical appointments. Every month, over 40% of the requests from these seniors go unfilled. Help us keep our seniors safe and cared for.

Everyone wants to change the world. Start by changing just one life.

Benevilla is a local, West Valley, not-for-profit organization that serves children, their families, and older adults with dementia and intellectual or developmental disabilities.

We provide free volunteer assisted services such as grocery shopping, transportation, friendly visitor/phone pals, to housebound individuals. In addition, to the four different day programs for adults with dementia and other disabilities, we also have a preschool/child care center, which includes an intergenerational component.

Benevilla is currently in need of warm, caring, and engaging volunteers to assist our Home Services Programs. The Home Service Volunteer works more broadly within our programs and includes the following help provided to our members:

    • TransportationHelp a person maintain their independence and dignity by taking them to and from medical, dental, and other appointments as needed. Transportation will be provided by using your own vehicle.
    • Grocery ShoppingHelp a homebound or physically challenged individual maintain their independence by shopping and delivering groceries on a regular basis.
    • Friendly Visitor / Phone PalHelp to combat loneliness by spending some time each week with an elderly person or making phone calls on a regular basis. Friendly visitors can read mail and write letters, play games, share a meal, take people shopping, or just visit in the person’s home.

Please Note: members/clients served in this program are able to walk on their own, they simply are not able to drive on their own anymore. Volunteers will not be required to lift passengers or transport wheelchairs.

We encourage you to consider participating by volunteering in help of others, as this rewarding work might be something for you. Orientation and training will be provided.

An AZ level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card, current driver license, proof of insurance, background checks, and personal references are required.
