Provide Companionship and Connection to Older Adults

Norfolk County RSVP is seeking caring volunteers age 55 and older to serve as Friendly Visitor Volunteers, offering companionship and social connection to older adults living in their own homes throughout Norfolk County.

These visits help reduce isolation, support emotional well‑being, and provide meaningful human connection. Opportunities to visit Veterans are also available.

What You’ll Do

As a Friendly Visitor Volunteer, you will:

• Visit older adults in their homes on a regular basis
• Provide friendly conversation and companionship
• Help clients feel connected and supported
• Build positive, respectful relationships over time

Time Commitment

• Flexible weekday daytime availability
• Ongoing, recurring visits arranged based on volunteer and client schedules

Mileage Reimbursement

Mileage reimbursement is available for volunteers traveling to and from visit locations.

Requirements

To volunteer, you must:

• Be age 55 or older
• Have a valid driver’s license
• Complete a background check
• Attend a volunteer orientation
