    Time Commitment: 5–10 hours per week

    Position Overview

    IAABC Foundation is seeking a dedicated Personnel Manager to support and strengthen our team practices and organizational culture. This role is ideal for someone passionate about people management, nonprofit work, and building positive experiences for all personnel within a global, remote organization. The personnel Manager plays a key role in supporting recruitment, onboarding, engagement, recognition, and policy development while ensuring alignment with organizational values and best practices.

    Key Responsibilities

    Volunteer Recruitment & Support

    • Collaborate with the Executive Director and senior leadership on organizational development, workforce planning, succession planning, and personnel strategy.
    • Develop recruitment strategies to maintain a full roster of personnel.
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding processes to ensure smooth and welcoming experiences.
    • Interview personnel to determine skills, interests, and suitability, based on guidelines such as conflict of interest, availability, and role requirements.
    • Act as a supportive point of contact for personnel-related questions and concerns.
    • Make immediate personnel selections or provide recommendations to the ED or Program Director, as applicable.

    Onboarding/Offboarding and Records Maintenance:

    • Manage the onboarding process, including non-disclosure agreements (NDA), personnel agreements, and technology setup (Slack, Google Admin, etc.).
    • Maintain and update orientation procedures and documents as needed.
    • Ensure all roles have job descriptions.
    • Maintain personnel records, agreements, and annual NDAs.
    • Regularly confirm activity with team leads.

    Operations & Policies

    • Assist in developing, reviewing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and SOPs, including job descriptions, evaluations, benefit refreshes, compensation plans, and other sensitive documentation.
    • Help ensure personnel practices are consistent, fair, and aligned with nonprofit standards, organizational values, and applicable legal or compliance considerations.
    • Ensure handbooks and guidance documents remain complete, accurate, and up to date.
    • Support leadership in strengthening people-focused processes and workflows.

    Personnel Relations and Engagement

    • Contribute to engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
    • Provide guidance and support to supervisors and personnel.
    • Support the creation and maintenance of onboarding and training resources.
    • Help identify opportunities to improve personnel satisfaction, collaboration, and professional development.

    Appreciation Program

    • Create and maintain incentive programs such as “Volunteer of the Month” or other recognition initiatives.
    • Provide recognition and encouragement; recommend recognition to the ED where appropriate.
    • Distribute eligible benefits as requested.

    Collaboration & Communication

    • Work closely with leadership, team leads, personnel team members and all personnel.
    • Participate in team meetings and maintain regular communication via Slack.
    • Support a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative remote team environment.

    Qualifications – Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Education or experience in Human Resources, Volunteer Management, People Operations, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Understanding of personnel management fundamentals such as recruitment, onboarding, documentation, and policy support.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism, discretion, and empathy.
    • Comfortable working independently in a remote, diverse, international volunteer team.
    • Familiarity with Google Workspace and Slack is an asset.
