    Be on-site for the full week of camp, undergo a criminal background check, adhere to the CNW Code of Conduct, Child Protection Policies and HIPAA Privacy Laws. Training/shadowing of current Program Director will be made available.

    Description

    Purpose: To direct and coordinate all activities related to the daily programming and events (including direct oversight of all programming staff) at Camp No Worries (CNW), a one-week children's cancer camp serving children diagnosed with cancer, their siblings and bereaved siblings, that takes place June 20th through 27th, 2026.

    Duties and Responsibilities: (full position description available upon request):

    This position reports directly to the Camp Director.

    Pre-Camp Planning:

    • Attend camp planning meetings from January to June- provide updates on programming activities and events.
    • Plan and execute schedules for the week’s activities and events for all age-groups of campers with the assistance of Program Coordinators.
    • Vet and secure all performers and/or vendors for weeks activities- acquire and provide appropriate contracts, coordinate necessary signatures, deposits and final payments through CNW.
    • Provide Camp Director with a projected budget for programming based on previous year’s spending and estimated spending by mid-February.
    • Assist with the pre-camp orientation of new volunteer counselors (early June) and mandatory all-volunteer training (prior to camper’s arrival).
    • Communicate with the programming staff (Arts & Crafts, landsports, teambuilding, boating, etc.) to obtain necessary supplies for activities.
    • Explore alternative activities for daily programming in the event of inclement weather.

    During Camp:

    • Uphold policies and procedures that affect the operation of Camp No Worries and its campers.
    • Assure the safety of each camper/counselor while participating in activity areas.
    • Attend daily meetings with CNW programming staff to evaluate how the week is going and assess any changes that need to be made.
    • Communicate and coordinate all transportation needs to and from activity areas around camp with Camp Ranger.
    • Coordinate any food needs/requests with Meal Team leader for daily activities.
    • Communicate schedule changes and provide assistance in setting up, breaking down and/or running activities when needed.
    • Along with Program Coordinators, evaluate all special events and vendor performances (i.e. nature programs, evening special events) for overall appeal, cost effectiveness, and engagement.
    • Must complete full inventory of all program area supplies at completion of camp and submit to Camp Director by 1 week post-camp.

    Post-Camp Follow-up:

    • Attend a post-camp wrap-up meeting to evaluate the week and brainstorm ways to improve the following year.
    • Submit in-kind vendors/performers to donation manager for thank you note to be sent no later than one week post-camp.
    • Submit a final expense report to the Camp Director one week post camp

    The ideal candidate:

    • Prior experience in event/program planning for children or individuals with varied abilities preferred.
    • Demonstrates strong leadership, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Is organized with particular attention to detail.
    • Maintains a professional, friendly and helpful attitude during all times while on-site at camp.
    • It is a requirement to be on-site at camp from Saturday training until after camper/families exit the following Saturday (sleep over at camp for the full week).
    • The chosen Program Director will undergo a Criminal Background check and must adhere to the CNW Code of Conduct, Child Protection Policies and HIPAA Privacy Laws.

    Term: 2-3 years. This position is a year round volunteer camp position. Camp No Worries takes place during the last week of June each year. 2026 dates are Saturday, June 20-27th.

    Training/shadowing of current, experienced Program Director will be made available.
