Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Board Member located in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area, with some work from home acceptable. As a Board Member, you will be responsible for strategic planning, organizational governance, and financial oversight. You will collaborate with other board members, support the executive team, and ensure that the organization's mission and goals are being met. Regular duties include attending board meetings, participating in committee work, and providing guidance on fundraising and community outreach efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Mission & Governance
- Uphold and actively promote the mission and values of The Healing Closet Corp.
- Attend and participate in monthly board meetings (virtual or in-person).
- Review and approve budgets, strategic plans, and policies.
- Fundraising & Resources
- Contribute an annual give-or-get (minimum $100 OR equivalent in sponsorships/donations).
- Help identify and connect with potential donors, sponsors, and grant opportunities.
- Participate in at least two major fundraising or community events per year.
- Advocacy & Outreach
- Serve as an ambassador for The Healing Closet Corp. in the community.
- Share our work through your network and on social media.
- Help recruit volunteers and partners.
- Commitment
- Serve on at least one committee (e.g., Fundraising, Marketing, Programs).
- Complete assigned action items within agreed deadlines.
- Maintain confidentiality and avoid conflicts of interest.
Qualifications
- Experience in strategic planning and organizational governance
- Financial oversight skills, including budgeting and financial analysis
- Strong background in fundraising and donor outreach
- Knowledge of community resources and networks in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and remotely
- Passion for helping the less-fortunate and unhoused communities
- Experience in non-profit organizations is a plus: nonprofit leadership, fundraising, marketing, finance, law, community outreach, grant writing
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Social Work, or a related field
