    What does a Bedside Companion Volunteer do?

    Our Bedside Companion Volunteers provide invaluable support to patients by:

    • Being present: Spending time with patients, offering a comforting and supportive presence.
    • Providing companionship: Listening to stories, sharing conversations, reading aloud, or simply sitting quietly with patients.
    • Offering emotional support: Providing a listening ear and a compassionate heart, offering comfort and reassurance.
    • Creating a peaceful environment: Helping to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere for patients.
    • Respecting patient preferences: Honoring individual needs and preferences for interaction, respecting silence when desired.
    • Offering respite for families: Providing a brief respite for family caregivers, allowing them time for errands, appointments, or self-care.
