    Description

    Hospice Volunteer Needed- Utica, MI

    Role Overview:

The Care Team Hospice is seeking compassionate volunteers to provide caregiver respite support for hospice patients who live at home. In this role, you offer companionship and a reassuring presence to the patient, allowing family members and caregivers time to rest, attend appointments, or take care of personal needs. Your time and presence make a meaningful difference during an emotionally challenging season.

    Responsibilities may include:

    Caregiver Respite:

Staying with the patient in their home to provide relief for family members and caregivers, giving them peace of mind while they step away.

    Companionship:

Engaging in quiet activities such as reading, listening to music, playing cards, crafts, light conversation, or simply sitting together. Activities are based on the patient’s interests and energy level.

    Emotional Support:

Offering empathetic listening, gentle conversation, comfort, or a calm presence during the caregiver’s absence.

Volunteers do not perform medical care or personal care of any kind.

    Training and Support:

Volunteers receive comprehensive hospice training and ongoing support from our team to ensure you feel prepared, supported, and confident in your role.

    Time Commitment:

Flexible scheduling based on your availability, typically a couple of hours per month. Visits are arranged at times that work best for you and the family.

    Requirements:

    • Must be at least 18 years old
    • Background check
    • TB test
