    Description

    Overview

The Personal Assistance Services (PAS) Program connects individuals with disabilities and seniors to resources and reliable caregivers, enabling them to remain independent in their homes. The volunteers will assist by making calls, providing information, and helping connect individuals to appropriate community resources.

    Responsibilities

    • Call new referrals to follow up on their request for assistance.
    • Inform callers if the program is currently at capacity or if space is available on the waitlist.
    • Provide information and referrals to community resources when PAS cannot take new consumers.
    • Answer basic questions about IHSS, caregiver matching, and respite care options.
    • Record notes on who you spoke with and the outcome of each call.
    • Research and compile community resource information to support department outreach and service efforts.
    • Help update community resources and outreach materials.
    • Share updates on new or changing services in the community.

    Desired Qualities

    • Comfortable making phone calls
    • Comfortable using basic office equipment and Microsoft Windows
    • Friendly attitude and a reliable team member

    Requirements

    • Complete the interview, pass a background check, and attend orientation
    • Wear a face mask in the office
    • Log volunteer hours after every shift
    • Keep the Volunteer Coordinator informed about any changes or concerns
    • Minimum 4 hours of service per month
    • Maintain the confidentiality of Dayle McIntosh Center information

    Schedule

    • Flexible scheduling: Shifts are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

    COVID-19 Policy
