Looking for a way to use your skills to bring comfort and dignity to others? Compassus Hospice is seeking a volunteer barber to provide basic hair care services for patients receiving end-of-life care. A simple haircut or shave can restore confidence, ease discomfort, and create a moment of connection for patients and families.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide basic barbering services such as haircuts, trims, beard and mustache grooming, or shaves
- Visit patients in their homes, assisted living facilities, or nursing facilities
- Offer compassionate presence and respectful conversation during visits
- Work with the hospice team to ensure patient needs and safety are always the priority
Why It Matters:
For many patients, appearance and self-care remain deeply tied to dignity. Volunteers who bring their barbering skills help patients feel seen, cared for, and valued during a vulnerable time.
Requirements:
- Licensed barber or experienced in barbering (proof of licensure may be required for facility visits)
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Completion of Compassus hospice volunteer orientation
- Background check and TB test (provided by Compassus)
- Respect for confidentiality, boundaries, and patient dignity
