    Description

    Position Overview: Fund Development Committee members at SacACT play a crucial role in shaping the organization's fundraising and fund development initiatives. This volunteer role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to SacACT’s growth and development by leveraging expertise in fundraising, marketing, communications, and community engagement. Individuals with skill sets in one or more areas can contribute in a variety of ways to help meet the committee’s and SacACT’s goals.

    As a key committee member, you will enjoy contributing to meaningful fundraising and fund development initiatives, networking opportunities with professionals in philanthropy, communications, and community development, skill development in fundraising, strategic planning implementation, and effective communication, and the satisfaction of playing a vital role in enhancing the community's well-being and growth.

    Committee service provides a great opportunity to learn more about SacACT and to consider a future role as a SacACT board member.

    Key responsibilities for committee members:

    • Work alongside SacACT staff to help achieve SacACT’s fundraising goals and objectives.
    • Support SacACT’s fundraising priorities, with a focus on individual giving.
    • Adhere to and improve, as needed, SacACT’s policies, programs, and practices as they pertain to fundraising (identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship).
    • Learn and share SacACT’s mission, fundraising and communications policies, programs, and needs, as well as understand its collective purpose.
    • Assist in identifying and securing the financial resources and partnerships necessary for SacACT to advance its mission.
    • Leverage connections, networks, and resources to achieve the organization’s mission in alignment with goals outlined in the Theory of Change.
    • Make a meaningful personal financial donation.
    • Engage in learning opportunities to better understand the communities we serve.
    • Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and lived experiences to the committee and to SacACT.
    • Advise SacACT staff and Board on fundraising strategies.
    • Serve as ambassadors for SacACT in the community.
    • Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in committee meetings

    Desired volunteer traits:

    • Passion for community engagement and/or fundraising, and making a positive impact in the local area.
    • Collaborative mindset and willingness to work effectively within a diverse team, supporting both staff members and fellow volunteers.
    • Interest and knowledge of fundraising, grant seeking, donor relations, communications, marketing and/or related fields is preferred.
    • Familiarity with digital media, social networking platforms, marketing concepts, and/or fundraising is a plus.
