MISSION:
Seattle Children’s Alyssa Burnett Adult Life Center (ABC) offers lifelong learning engagements for people 18 and older with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other intellectual/developmental disabilities by taking a person-centered approach to match people’s needs and interests, building inclusive communities, and training community members and the next generation to become leaders in their field.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Supports and engages in meaningful connections with participants as they attend classes and activities at the ABC and in the community by serving as peer-mentor, instructor aide, and friend to adults. This position supports the instructor and classroom assistant. Duties include site set up/clean up, engaging participants and family members, answering questions, and supporting the safety of all participants as directed by staff. This position will provide direct support in various settings as the adults work on skill-building, independent-living, and other social/communication skills. Depending on day/time of week and season, this may be supporting in classes on- or off-site, which will be determined at start of session.
