Immigration Advocates

ICDR Immigration Legal Services is seeking 'Legal Associates (volunteers) to join its team to review immigration policies, services and resources and advocate for immigrants by calling elected representatives, government agencies and foundations to provide support for the organization that advocate for diverse immigrants and underprivileged communities.

The position is also responsible for:

• Act as a liaison and referral agent between immigrants and various other institutions to help with cases.
• Conduct legal research as related to immigration and civil rights of individuals.
• Coordinate with experts/public and private firms and agencies.
• Education and/or awareness building, NOT as legal and/or specific professional counseling.
• Advocate for civil rights and justice for all.
• Actively involved in preparing and drafting of legal submissions

Qualification Requirements:

·Strong written and analytical skills, knowledge of federal immigration law, understands the Washington policy environment refugee and migrant rights, and can work to advance a human rights-first approach to United States government policy

·Demonstrated experience working on US asylum, immigration, and refugee issues and ability to pivot in the changing landscape of immigration rights

·Thorough knowledge of international human rights standards related to asylum, immigration, and refugees
