Overview:
Help us reduce food waste in the metro south area! We are committed to getting food to people, not to landfills. We need drivers to help us rescue food from farms, bakeries, and grocery stores and return it to our base location - a refrigerated truck that will later distribute collected food.
What you'll do:
- Commit to a pickup/dropoff once a week (~1-2 hour)
- Drive the refrigerated van to designated pickup spot
- Log the weight of food that is picked up
- Drive vehicle back to the base location
- Communicate with Freight Farms staff as needed
What you need:
- A driver's license
- Ability to drive a refrigerated truck
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs
- An interest in people and reducing food insecurity
Perks:
- You can use our vehicle - no gas money needed!
- Helping reduce food insecurity in your community
- Access to our supply of rescued food
When & Where?
- Weekends and weekdays are available. Pickups are generally flexible so we can work with your schedule.
- Currently, Monday-Thursday are our most needed days
- Pickups are usually on the earlier side, between 8AM-1PM
- Base location is the Boys & Girls Club summer camp at 388 Harvey St, Taunton, MA
- Pickups are in the areas surrounding, no more than 45 minutes away
We are able to work with your needs! If you would prefer to drive your own car, let us know! If you can do a pickup but can't load and unload, let us know! The goal is to rescue more food and any help is appreciated.
