    Description

Become a Figlet at The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition

Are you passionate about spreading holiday cheer and helping others have a great experience? We have the perfect opportunity for you: become a Figlet at our biggest fundraising event of the year, The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition!

    What Is a Figlet?

Figlets are volunteers who act as a guide, liaison, and helper for the caroling teams! This role is ideal for folks with customer service experience, problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude.

Figlets work in pairs, sign up with a friend, or make a new one during the event!

Each pair will be assigned to 2–3 caroling teams within a specific zone of the Figgy Pudding event area.

    Your Responsibilities as a Figlet

    Team Escort & Greeter

    • Greet caroling teams in the event area and direct them to their designated caroling spot.
    • Be stationed in your assigned zone to receive teams as they arrive from check-in.

    Event Ambassador

    • Represent our organization with warmth and professionalism.
    • Answer questions, help resolve issues, and communicate event details, especially when teams are scheduled to go on stage.
    • You may be one of the few people a team interacts with directly, making your role essential in creating a welcoming, memorable experience.

    Training & Support

    • Keep an eye on your teams during the caroling hours to ensure they remain in their designated spots.
    • Assist with any unexpected needs and keep communication flowing smoothly.
    • Figlets receive plenty of support from event staff.
    • A volunteer orientation will provide all the information, tips, and tricks needed to feel confident and prepared.

    Why Volunteer as a Figlet?

    • Play a key role in a festive fundraising event that supports the Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank.
    • Use (or grow!) your customer service and ambassador skills.
    • Enjoy a fun, active volunteer role in the heart of Pike Place Market.
    • Create meaningful and joyful moments for hundreds of participants.

    Instructions:

    Before the event

    • All volunteers must attend an in-person training on Thursday, December 4th, at 6 pm at Pike Place Market.
      • The training will be approx. 1.5 hours long and cover important safety and logistics information, FAQs, a site walkthrough, and guidelines for the event.
      • If you are unable to attend the training, please contact Tahtiana (tahtiana@pmsc-dtfb.org) or Sam (sam@pmsc-dtfb.org) for information about a make-up session.
    • All volunteers must complete registration paperwork through Galaxy Digital, our volunteer management platform, prior to the event.
    • If you're volunteering with a group, please inform us so we can pair you together. We also encourage friends or families to sign up together to share the volunteer experience. If you're volunteering solo, don't worry, you'll have the opportunity to make a new friend during the event!

    Day of the event

    • The 40th Annual Figgy Pudding will be held on Saturday, December 6th, 2025. We will need volunteer help from 8:30am to 3pm, though you may not need to stay that whole time.
    • Figgy Pudding is a rain-or-shine event! Please be sure to dress warmly. We will be providing all volunteers with a Figgy Pudding apron, but extra festive attire is strongly encouraged! Have fun with it!
    • We will provide coffee and a light lunch before the event starts, but please bring water and any extra snacks as needed.
    • Please note that parking will be very limited, and there is no free parking in the Market area. Public transportation is recommended.
      • If you encounter difficulties figuring out the best route, please feel free to let us know, and we'll assist you!
    • Please arrive ready to check in at your shift start time. We will show you the Volunteer Check-In area during the training on Thursday, December 4th.
    • Please know you are expected to stay until the end of your shift. At the end of your shift you will visit the Volunteer Check-In to return any supplies and do a quick check-in with our event team.
