    Description

    STEM Educator

    Location: Various school and community sites

    Commitment: Flexible; based on availability and program schedule

    Overview

    The STEM Educator volunteer role supports hands-on learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving in students from elementary through high school. Volunteers lead or assist in teaching engineering and STEM-based workshops designed to make science, technology, engineering, and math engaging and accessible for all learners.

    Responsibilities

    • Teach or assist in delivering STEM lessons and activities to students in grades K–12
    • Facilitate interactive, project-based learning experiences that encourage exploration and teamwork
    • Adapt teaching methods to suit different age groups and learning styles
    • Support classroom management and ensure a safe, inclusive learning environment
    • Collaborate with other volunteers and staff to prepare materials and set up activities
    • Serve as a positive role model, promoting curiosity and confidence in STEM subjects

    Qualifications

    • Passion for STEM education and working with children
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for hands-on learning
    • Prior teaching or mentoring experience (preferred but not required)
    • Background in STEM fields or related studies (engineering, science, technology, or math)

    Time Commitment

    • Flexible scheduling; opportunities available during school hours, after-school programs, and weekend workshops
    • Minimum commitment of 2–4 hours per month recommended

    Training and Support

    • Orientation and training provided on curriculum, classroom management, and safety procedures
    • Ongoing support from program coordinators and lead educators
