    Description

    Help Seniors Socialize Over Lunch! (Sarasota)

    Senior Friendship Centers is looking for volunteers who love engaging with seniors to help support our lunch program - an essential service for seniors that helps combat food insecurity and isolation. We are looking for volunteers with an interest in getting to know and building relationships with our senior lunch patrons.

    DUTIES:

    • Greet, welcome, and engage with the arriving seniors, making them feel welcome.
    • Ensure current lunch participant signs in and assist new participants with enrollment paperwork.
    • Help with light set-up and cleaning such as rolling silverware, wiping tables, setting out food, and other light duties.

    SCHEDULE: Weekly on a Monday - Friday, 11:00am - 1:00pm

    SUPERVISOR: Nutrition Coordinator

    LOCATION: Senior Friendship Centers at 1888 Brother Geenen Way, Sarasota, FL 34236

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Have a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of seniors.
    • Have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage older adults.
    • Be friendly, patient, flexible, able to handle change, and ability to work as part of a team.
    • Be reliable and have attention to detail.
    • Follow all protocols to ensure safety of meal participants.
    • Ability to perform light physical tasks, such as setting out chairs.
    • Ability to interact professionally with all staff, clients, volunteers, and community partners.
    • Must possess cultural awareness and sensitivity for all individuals and groups.

    TRAINING: Volunteer orientation will be provided.
