    All pet therapy volunteers must live in the State of Massachusetts (USA), pass a criminal background check, and participate in volunteer training both in our office and online.

    Description

    Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? Do you have a compassionate heart and the desire to make a difference in the lives of others? Do you love dogs? If so, join Autumn Hospice's dedicated team as a pet therapy volunteer!

    Autumn Hospice needs volunteers with dogs that are certified in pet therapy and/or have passed the American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen Test to visit hospice patients wherever they call home, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and private residences.

    Position Type: volunteer (unpaid)

    Commitment: flexible schedule (you decide the hours you give and which assignments to take)

    Required Skills and Qualifications:

    Strong communication and active listening skills

    Must pass a background check and comply with Autumn Hospice policies and procedures

    Willingness to complete a volunteer training program, which consists of a 90-minute training in person in our office and online training modules in Relias.

    Therapy dogs must be up-to-date with their core vaccinations, including rabies, distemper, parvovirus, leptospirosis, and adenovirus.
