Launched in 2004, the International Ocean Film Foundation (IOFF) is a year-round ocean conservation advocacy organization using the power of visual storytelling to raise awareness to protect our oceans. With education at the heart of our mission, the foundation has a strong commitment to engage the next generation of ocean conservationists by offering a Free Ocean Film Education Program for middle school and high school students around the world. We achieve this by organizing a world-class environmental film festival, securing industry thought leaders and speakers, expanding our global audience base and empowering youth with opportunities.
The IOFF is recruiting for a volunteer Sr. Programmer to oversee a team of volunteer screeners to assist in curating the annual film festival program. Film festival screeners with at least 3-5 years of experience are encouraged to apply. Specific roles and responsibilities include the following.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITES
EXPERIENCE
· Experience as a Sr. Programmer of films for film festivals or similar role
· Experience in evaluating and critiquing documentary films for technical qualities and effective storytelling attributes.
· Project management and leadership skills overseeing a team of seasoned volunteers.
· Must be available for in-person evening meetings and possible weekend meetings.
· Working knowledge of current ocean related issues and developments in the ocean community designed to improve ocean health is highly desirable.
· Interest in supporting independent filmmakers from around the world.
