    Position Summary

    Join Empowered Futures as a Finance Manager and help oversee the organization’s financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance activities. We are a forward-thinking nonprofit committed to building confident, emotionally intelligent, and resourceful young adults through self-empowerment, mentorship, and community support.

    The Finance Manager is responsible for financial planning, analysis, reporting, and compliance activities. This role ensures financial integrity, supports strategic decision-making, and manages budgeting, forecasting, and financial controls. The Finance Manager partners closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
    • Analyze financial performance, variances, and trends; provide actionable insights to leadership.
    • Prepare financial models to support strategic initiatives, investments, and operational decisions.
    • Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP or applicable accounting standards.
    • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger activity for accuracy and compliance.
    • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and regulatory requirements.
    • Coordinate audits, tax filings, and interactions with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
    • Maintain and improve financial policies, procedures, and documentation.
    • Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop finance or accounting staff as applicable.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of progressive experience in finance, accounting, or financial management.
    • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
    • Proficiency with accounting systems and financial tools (e.g., ERP systems, Excel).
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with high accuracy.
    • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
    • Familiarity with financial systems implementations or process automation.
