    Description

    Help Adults Earn Their GED

In Dallas today, there are thousands of adults who are not able to reach their potential because they need an alternate pathway to a high school diploma. Aspire volunteers and students share an amazing experience as both parties engage in learning. Students have a deep desire to improve and volunteers get the joy of experiencing their students grow.

We welcome both experienced and novice instructors. If you have not taught adults, we will help you gain the skills to be an effective instructor. We provide curriculum, training, and support.

Instructors will guide and support students as they build core academic knowledge and essential skills necessary for success in most jobs and postsecondary programs in today’s economy.

    • An alternative path to a high school credential
    • Knowledge and skills necessary for success in today’s workplace
    • A safe environment to explore their strengths and weaknesses, academically, and professionally

Qualifications: HSE (also known as GED) teaching positions do not require previous teaching experience. Our staff will provide the lesson plans and materials. Other qualifications are as follows:

    • Willingness to demonstrate or aspire to a growth mindset
    • Must be fluent in English and easy to understand
    • Math background helpful, but not required
    • Ability to dedicate a minimum of 3 hours each week to teaching, class preparation, and occasional training or peer support sessions.
    • Patience, understanding, flexibility, and a positive attitude
    • Must be able to pass a background check
