Job Title: Social Media Intern
Organization: FLUSH
Location: Remote (need to be able to meet within California's time zone work hours)
Compensation: $500 stipend for 10 hours weekly commitment in 3 months.
About FLUSH:
Founded in 2018 and launched in 2020, we are a women-led global consulting business in water and sanitation. We help water and sanitation service providers tell data-driven stories and develop markets, which builds buzz, creates curiosity, and destigmatizes their work.
Through these services, we support WASH providers in connecting with investors better and building stronger relationships with customers, clients, and investors. FLUSH's specific approach to storytelling and market support services fosters behavior change by creating fun, uplifting educational, and awareness-building events for communities to experience to build buzz, create curiosity, and destigmatize sanitation conversations. We listen to audiences to understand their needs, interests, and contexts before creating engagements to ensure appropriate and useful messaging. FLUSH's Associates are all business-oriented consultants who have mastered creating evidence-based and enticing marketing strategies and engaging stories while having deep knowledge of the WASH sector.
Internship Overview:
Social media is central to how FLUSH builds buzz, creates curiosity, and destigmatizes conversations about water and sanitation. Interns will support the planning, creation, and management of content across FLUSH's social media channels, helping us grow our audience and share engaging, evidence-based stories from the WASH sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the development of a social media content calendar across FLUSH's channels.
- Draft, schedule, and publish posts, including writing captions and sourcing or creating accompanying visuals.
- Monitor engagement, respond to comments and messages where appropriate, and flag conversations for follow-up.
- Track and report on social media performance, proposing ways to improve reach and engagement.
- Research trends, hashtags, and conversations relevant to WASH and international development.
- Participate in meetings with the Founder and potentially other stakeholders about social media strategy.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education high school diploma or equivalent
- Be at least 18 years of age
- The ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to use research and writing skills to develop messaging.
- Familiarity with major social media platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, Instagram, X, TikTok) and an understanding of what makes content engaging.
- Experience with content creation or scheduling tools (e.g., Canva) is a plus.
- Excellent communications skills in English, including proper citations, are required.
- The ability to demonstrate strong interests in water, sanitation, hygiene, international development, and communications.
- A commitment to advancing and strengthening equity and inclusion practices internally and externally with our partners.
