    About Seed the Vote

Seed the Vote is a project of Center for Empowered Politics & Everyday People PAC. Seed the Vote is a grassroots, social justice organization mobilizing volunteers to defeat right-wing politics by supporting the electoral work of grassroots organizations in battleground states. We are dedicated to building the long-term power of working-class communities and communities of color.

Seed the Vote organizes and provides resources, including volunteer capacity, to support community organizations and labor unions with direct voter contact as well as other campaign needs. In 2020, Seed the Vote mobilized nearly 9,000 volunteers, including over 1,250 in-person canvassers, to support our partners in key swing states to defeat Trump and flip the Senate. In 2022, Seed the Vote mobilized volunteers to door knocking and phone banking in six key states to help defy the odds in the midterms and win major victories in the Senate and House. In 2024, Seed the Vote mobilized over 5,000 volunteers to doorknock in 6 states.

    Position Overview

Seed the Vote seeks a creative, dynamic Video Content Creator to drive the video engine of our digital organizing program in the fight for a just democracy. This is a temporary, video-forward role: you'll both produce vertical video yourself and direct a growing bench of volunteer creators to produce more. Your goal is to inspire thousands of people to take action with Seed the Vote through compelling short-form video, storytelling, and clear calls to action. This position reports directly to the Digital Organizing & Communications Director and works closely with the Organizing and Fundraising teams.

    Core Responsibilities

The following responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel classified in this manner.

    Video Production & Creator Direction – 70%

    • Produce 2-3 original vertical videos per week, a mix of pieces you create directly and pieces you direct volunteers and creators to make, tied to the news cycle, social trends, and our swing-state programs.
    • Direct the creator production process end-to-end: own video production end-to-end, from scripting through filming, editing, and incorporating feedback in post.
    • Identify, onboard, and develop volunteer creators, mentoring them in video best practices, storytelling, and editorial alignment with STV's voice and values.
    • Draft engaging social copy, titles, and on-screen text to complement each video and maximize viewer interest and shareability.
    • Monitor canvass WhatsApp groups and volunteer relationships for footage, photos, and stories to fuel video content; build connections with volunteers to support them in sharing their stories on camera.
    • Identify trends and formats in the vertical video space and quickly produce content that aligns with STV’s mission and goals.
    • Collaborate with the communications team on distribution strategy for creator videos across platforms.
    • Meet quick deadlines to ensure videos are relevant, algorithm-friendly, and engaging to drive organic growth for STV channels.

    Collaboration & Coordination - 20%

    • Collaborate across the organization to support fundraising, recruitment, events, and educational programming.
    • Help manage the volunteer communications committee, leveraging volunteers with comms and digital organizing experience to expand our capacity - ensure clear structure, effective facilitation, and role/assignment clarity.

    Program Participation - 10%

    • Relational recruitment of people to volunteer with Seed the Vote, particularly to doorknock in key swing districts.
    • Participate in staff-wide spaces & activities

    • A Compelling Storyteller: You have a proven track record of framing complex issues around values and action. You know how to use people's stories to inspire action in others. You are a passionate writer and editor who can authentically amplify community voices.
