    Description

    About Curio Spice Co.

Curio Spice Co. is a mission-driven spice company working to build a more equitable, transparent, and delicious food system through direct sourcing, storytelling, education, and exceptional products. We believe spices are not commodities — they are cultural, agricultural, and human stories worth honoring.

We are looking for a collaborative, systems-minded Marketing Manager to help lead Curio into its next phase of growth. This role is ideal for someone who cares deeply about ethical business, believes marketing should serve both mission and revenue, and thrives in a highly entrepreneurial environment.

    Position Overview

The Marketing Manager will lead Curio’s marketing function with a focus on sustainable revenue growth, operational excellence, team coordination, and brand stewardship.

This is not a purely digital marketing role. While channel oversight remains important, the heart of this position is building the systems, rhythms, team practices, and strategic alignment needed to grow a mission-driven brand with integrity.

The ideal candidate is equal parts operator, strategist, collaborator, and coach — someone who can translate vision into execution while strengthening communication, accountability, and organizational clarity across marketing initiatives.

This role will oversee marketing planning and execution across e-commerce, retail, wholesale, education/events, partnerships, storytelling, and customer engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Revenue & Growth Leadership

    • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies that support company-wide revenue goals across:
      • E-commerce
      • Retail store traffic
      • Wholesale partnerships
      • Classes and events
      • Strategic collaborations
    • Partner with leadership to identify growth opportunities aligned with Curio’s mission and values
    • Track and evaluate marketing effectiveness using both quantitative and qualitative measures
    • Balance long-term brand building with near-term business performance

    Brand Stewardship & Storytelling

    • Uphold and evolve the Curio brand voice across all customer touchpoints
    • Ensure all marketing reflects Curio’s values around ethical sourcing, cultural respect, transparency, and social impact
    • Guide storytelling efforts that meaningfully connect customers to farmers, origin communities, and culinary traditions
    • Maintain consistency and quality across campaigns, content, visuals, partnerships, and communications

    Team Leadership & Delegation

    • Coordinate and manage internal and external creative contributors, freelancers, agencies, and collaborators
    • Build systems for clear delegation, accountability, project management, and communication
    • Foster a culture of servant leadership, collaboration, curiosity, and continuous improvement
    • Support the development and success of team members through thoughtful feedback and mentorship
    • Help identify future hiring and organizational needs as the company grows

    Systems Building & Operational Excellence

    • Build scalable marketing systems, workflows, calendars, and planning processes
    • Improve cross-functional coordination between marketing, retail, operations, education, and leadership
    • Create sustainable operating rhythms that reduce reactive work and improve execution quality
    • Develop and maintain marketing dashboards, reporting structures, and planning tools
    • Ensure marketing initiatives are well-prioritized and aligned with company capacity and goals

    Channel Oversight

Oversee the strategic direction and performance of:

    • Email marketing
    • Social media
    • Website and e-commerce experience
    • Paid media and partnerships
    • Content strategy
    • Community engagement initiatives

This role does not require being the sole creator or executor of all marketing assets, but does require strong judgment, prioritization, direction-setting, and management capabilities.

    Qualifications

    Required

    • 5+ years of marketing experience, preferably in a mission-driven, nonprofit, social enterprise, food, hospitality, or values-led consumer brand environment
    • Proven ability to leverage AI to automate systems and marketing efforts
    • Demonstrated experience driving revenue growth through integrated marketing strategies
    • Experience leading projects, coordinating teams, and building operational systems
    • Strong organizational, communication, and delegation skills
    • Experience managing outside vendors, freelancers, or agencies
    • Excellent writing, storytelling, and brand communication instincts
    • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-moving small business environment
    • Commitment to ethical business practices, equity, and collaborative leadership
    • Nonprofit and/or social-impact marketing experience required

    Preferred

    • Experience in food, beverage, retail, hospitality, education, or mission-driven consumer products
    • Familiarity with Shopify, HubSpot, Google Analytics, and project management systems
    • Experience scaling processes within a growing entrepreneurial company
    • Passion for food systems, spices, culinary storytelling, and global food culture

    What Success Looks Like

    • Marketing efforts feel more aligned, intentional, efficient and sustainable
    • Revenue growth occurs without compromising brand integrity
    • Team members have greater clarity, accountability, and support
    • Marketing systems reduce chaos and increase consistency

    • The company is better positioned to scale thoughtfully and sustainably
