Associate Clinical Director

This is a full-time clinical leadership position for an experienced, independently licensed trauma therapist. The Associate Clinical Director would maintain a substantial psychotherapy and supervision caseload while also helping lead the clinical team and shape the future of the practice. The position is newly developed, so the person hired will have an opportunity to help define and evolve the role.

Main responsibilities:

The role combines three major areas:

• Clinical work: Maintain a full-time caseload of approximately 22–25 clients and supervisees per week, providing trauma-focused therapy and supporting complex clinical cases.
• Leadership and supervision: Supervise up to four pre-licensed clinicians, mentor staff, support onboarding and training, consult on complex cases, and serve as a liaison between ownership and clinical staff.
• Practice development: Help develop therapy groups and specialty programming, improve clinical systems and workflows, contribute to training and consultation initiatives, and participate in the organization's long-term growth and strategic planning.

Ideal candidate:

• An independent Illinois clinical license (such as LCPC, LCSW, LMFT, PsyD, or PhD)
• At least 5 years of post-graduate clinical experience
• Previous experience supervising pre-licensed clinicians
• Strong expertise in complex trauma, dissociation, attachment wounds, and relational trauma
• Strong leadership, mentorship, communication, and organizational skills
• A commitment to an inclusive, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive clinical environment

Work expectations:

The position includes a hybrid schedule with 2–3 in-person shifts and 1–2 virtual days per week, regular consultation groups, supervision responsibilities, leadership meetings, and timely management of documentation, billing, and scheduling. The practice also asks for an initial three-year commitment.

Compensation and benefits:

Compensation starts at approximately 55–60% of a full-time caseload, depending on experience, plus a monthly stipend for administrative and leadership duties. Benefits include partial health insurance premium coverage, disability insurance, a 401(k) match, PTO and sick leave, training and consultation opportunities, support for licensing and education, administrative support, and flexible use of office space in the Chicago area.

This is not a traditional administrative director role. It is essentially a working clinical leader position: someone expected to continue doing significant direct clinical work while supervising clinicians, supporting the practice owners, improving systems, and helping build the organization's clinical culture and future direction.

Watch Hill will cover a portion of BCBS PPO health insurance premiums after 3 months for therapists who want to utilize insurance.

Short term and long term disability for full time employees

Paid Sick Leave: PSL kicks in at 90 days. You will then have 40 hours a year at $40 per hour and you can use up to four hours per day. PSL can roll over to a max of 80 hours.

Paid Time Off: PTO kicks in at 30 days. You will then have 40 hours a year at $40 per hour and you can use up to four hours per day.

Weekly supervision for unlicensed Individuals.

Consultation and in house training every month for all therapists.

Therapists can attend CEU & Trauma Survivor WH workshops for free and learn from outside providers about trauma.

Financial support for licensing fees and educational budget for licensed therapists.

Consistent referrals are given to help build your practice as well as administrative support for billing, insurance, and intakes.

Flexible schedule with virtual and in-person office space available in downtown Chicago, Barrington, and potentially the Northside (Ravenswood area) of Chicago.

Marketing budget for attending events, writing blogs, creating social media content, and networking.
