You are compensated on a "per client' basis.

    Description

We are looking for people across New York State to serve as community outreach scouts, connecting with individuals who have mobility disabilities (those who use a cane, walker, rollator, or wheelchair) and who have run into accessibility problems at businesses they have visited.

Inaccessible restrooms, doorways, entrances, parking, and ramps are unfortunately common, even though they are illegal under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). If you have a mobility disability yourself, you have likely experienced this firsthand — and you know how frustrating it is to have your rights ignored.

    What This Opportunity Involves

As a scout, you will talk with people who have mobility disabilities about their right to have accessible features at any business serving the public — and, where appropriate, help us connect them with attorneys who can pursue a resolution on their behalf. Our affiliated attorneys work on a contingency basis, meaning there is no upfront cost for filing a claim. Many claims are resolved through negotiated settlements without going to court, and the business is often required to fix the accessibility issue.

This is a referral-based, compensated role. You will earn based on successful referrals — people you connect with who go on to work with our affiliated attorneys. (You can even refer yourself). We will provide guidance on how to talk about this with people respectfully and effectively, but we are looking for people who already care about this issue and can speak to it credibly.

    What We're Looking For

    • Based in New York State. Any ties to the disability community is a plus.
    • Personal experience with mobility disabilities and accessibility issues is a strong plus.
    • Comfortable having respectful, intelligent conversations about civil rights and accessibility.
    • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

We do not require a formal resume. What matters most is your ability to connect authentically with people in your community.

Your hours are completely flexible. This is a 1099 position.
