    Description

Goddard Law PLLC is a boutique, plaintiff-side employment discrimination and civil rights firm based in Lower Manhattan. Founded by Megan Goddard, our team represents employees and survivors in discrimination, harassment, retaliation, whistleblower, wage and hour, and gender-motivated violence matters against employers of every size. Our attorneys have been recognized by Forbes, Chambers, Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and the New York Law Journal for their advocacy. Learn more about our firm at www.goddardlawnyc.com.

We are a close-knit team of attorneys and staff who genuinely support one another and take pride in the outcomes we win for clients. As one of our partners puts it: “Every day I start work knowing the cases we take change people’s lives — and that the firm has my back to fight as hard as necessary to win for our clients.” We are looking to hire attorneys who share that commitment — creative, strategic, and independently motivated self-starters who are sharp legal thinkers, strong writers, and fierce advocates, and who enjoy interacting closely with clients and colleagues.

What You’ll Do: Handle plaintiff-side employment discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower, and wage and hour matters from intake through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery; conducting and defending depositions; opposing summary judgment; representing clients before administrative agencies (EEOC, NYSDHR, etc.) and in state and federal court; preparing for and representing clients at mediations; and counseling clients directly throughout their cases with the compassion and responsiveness Goddard Law is known for.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and admission to the New York Bar required (admission in NJ, CA, or MA is a plus)
    • 3–8 years of litigation experience, with substantial experience representing plaintiffs in employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, or related civil rights matters
    • Extensive experience conducting depositions, opposing summary judgment, and appearing in court
    • Experience managing cases before administrative agencies (EEOC, NYSDHR, etc.)
    • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
    • Ability to manage a substantial caseload independently while collaborating closely with our team
    • A demonstrated passion for employee rights and civil rights advocacy
    • Wage and hour experience a plus
    • Bilingual a plus
    • Familiarity with Clio Manage, Clio Grow, Syllo, or Kenect a plus, though not required

Schedule: Employees are expected to bill 40 hours per week, with no annual billable hour requirement. Employees may work remotely but are expected to attend all necessary case and court appearances in person as required.

    Benefits

Benefits: Health, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with employer match after one year of employment; life insurance; voluntary short- and long-term disability insurance; two weeks of vacation time annually; 40 hours of Safe and Sick Leave annually; and parental leave.
