    Description

    About Us

The Bulwark isn’t just a business, it’s a mission. We're a fast-growing media company founded to provide analysis and reporting in defense of liberal democracy. Our podcasts, newsletters, and videos cut through the noise to deliver sharp, independent analysis.

Inside The Bulwark, we live by a few simple rules: candor over spin, collaboration over ego, and a commitment to making each other better. We’re a nimble, fast-moving team that takes our work seriously—but not ourselves.

We're looking for a Rapid Response Associate to join us.

    About the Role

The Rapid Response Associate role will help The Bulwark produce and distribute political journalism across platforms. This is an entry-level, full-time position on a fast-moving team, with room to grow into specialized responsibilities based on your individual strengths and interests. If you’re organized, deeply engaged with politics, and interested in how news shows up across social and digital platforms, this role offers meaningful hands-on experience.

As a Rapid Response Associate, you will help turn political news and events into content for distribution across platforms, including:

    • Conduct real-time clipping of political events, hearings, debates, and news moments for rapid distribution across channels.
    • Caption videos for social media.
    • Edit, cut, and deliver social video from our shows and videos.
    • Create content and support the Social team across X, Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, YouTube, Reddit, etc.
    • Write and edit platform-appropriate copy, headlines, and posts that reflect The Bulwark’s voice and audience expectations.

    About You

    You Bring:

    • Passion for politics, journalism, and how news is produced and distributed.
    • Experience with video editing tools and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
    • Experience with journalism–whether that’s writing for a school newspaper or a journalism degree–is a plus.
    • The ability to handle a fast-paced, real-time environment where priorities shift quickly and content needs to be turned around within minutes or hours.
    • The ability to work after hours and on weekends depending on the news cycle.
    • Strong writing and communication skills.
    • Strong organization, attention to detail, and follow-through.
    • Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.

    What We Offer

We want people at The Bulwark to thrive and provide:

    • Full employer-sponsored health plans
    • 401(k) plan with employer match
    • Flexible, uncapped vacation and paid time off
    • Commuter benefits and Employee Assistance Program

This role is based in Washington, DC, where our team works together in person. We’re mission-driven, collaborative, and direct—and we value people who bring ideas and energy to the table.

Interested? We’d love to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a short cover note about your interest in The Bulwark and what you’d be excited to contribute.
