    Description

To apply send resume and cover letter to admin@civic-ventures.com

This is a hybrid role. The successful candidate must be based in the Seattle area and able to work from our Seattle office on a regular, recurring cadence. This is not a fully remote position.

WHO WE ARE – CIVIC VENTURES

Civic Ventures is a small group of political troublemakers devoted to ideas, policies, and

actions that catalyze significant social change. We are focused on disruptive innovation

in the civic sphere and work on solutions at the scale of the problem. We are serial

innovators in the civic space who favor the kind of big, disruptive ideas that upturn

conventional thinking. Though we promote many progressive concepts, we’re not

beholden to the traditional political framework of liberal versus conservative; an idea’s

value and utility should be more important than its origin. By thinking, writing, and acting

outside the realm of conventional political discourse, Civic Ventures aims to drive the

conversation and fundamentally alter the status quo in Seattle, Washington state, and

    across the nation.

    What We Are Looking For

We're looking for a sharp, self-directed Social Media & Content Manager to help shape and manage the day-to-day digital presence of our brands and content.

This is not a generic “post and schedule” social media role.

We're looking for someone who can take complex ideas about economics, public policy, and politics and turn them into compelling content for a range of audiences—from economists and policy experts to journalists and politically engaged general readers.

The right person is equally comfortable writing a punchy social post, digging into performance data to understand what is working, engaging directly with an online community, and building the systems and processes that help a small team work smarter.

You'll work closely with the Director of Digital Strategy & Content and Podcast Producer as part of a small, fast-moving, ideas-driven team.

    What You Might Be Doing

No two days will necessarily look the same, but your work may include:

    Owning the Social Calendar

    • Managing the day-to-day social publishing calendar across active platforms, including LinkedIn, X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and BlueSky
    • Coordinating content scheduling and publishing to maintain a consistent cadence and ensure alignment with each brand's voice
    • Supporting episode launches, clip promotion, campaign moments, and timely or reactive content
    • Building and maintaining a thoughtful tagging and categorization system that makes it easier to track performance and reuse content

    Writing Content

    • Writing clear, compelling social copy in distinct brand voices
    • Adapting content for different platforms, audiences, and formats
    • Developing copy to support podcast episodes, video clips, campaigns, and other key content moments
    • Taking complex ideas and making them engaging and accessible without oversimplifying them

    Turning Data Into Insight

    • Pulling and synthesizing weekly social media analytics across platforms
    • Tracking podcast performance, including downloads, listener growth, episode trends, and distribution data
    • Creating clear and useful monthly reporting
    • Identifying trends, opportunities, and insights that can inform future content
    • Helping the team understand not just what happened, but why it matters and what we should do next

    Supporting Podcast Promotion

    • Building and distributing promotional packages for podcast guests, including ready-to-use copy, creative assets, and platform-specific guidance
    • Ensuring guests receive materials in advance of episode launches
    • Following up to encourage and track promotional activity
    • Continuously improving the guest promotion process based on engagement and outcomes

    Building Community

    • Monitoring comments, conversations, and interactions across social platforms
    • Engaging with audiences in each brand's voice
    • Identifying high-value conversations and notable responses
    • Surfacing audience feedback, emerging themes, and interesting conversations to the broader team

    Pitching In Where Needed

    • Conducting research to support senior fellows and the broader content team
    • Helping solve problems and move projects forward as priorities shift
    • Building systems and processes that make the team's work more effective

What You Bring to the Table

    The Non-Negotiables

We're looking for someone with 4–6 years of experience in social media, digital content, communications, or a related field who brings:

    • Exceptional writing skills and the ability to adapt voice, tone, and format for different brands, audiences, and platforms
    • Deep familiarity with major social media platforms and an understanding of how their audiences, formats, and mechanics differ
    • Strong analytical instincts and the ability to turn performance data into useful insights and recommendations
    • Excellent organizational skills and a natural inclination to build systems and processes that improve the work
    • The ability to work independently and exercise good judgment without needing extensive direction
    • Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and new opportunities can emerge quickly
    • A strong sense of ownership and follow-through
    • The ability to manage multiple streams of work while maintaining attention to detail
    • A willingness to use AI tools to improve workflows and expand capacity

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

    • Experience in political communications, advocacy, media, nonprofit, or another mission-driven environment
    • Experience with social media scheduling and analytics platforms such as Sprout Social, Buffer, or similar tools
    • Familiarity with SEO best practices for digital and social content
    • Curiosity about emerging approaches to answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO)
    • Experience supporting podcast promotion or working with audio and video content
    • A genuine interest in economics, economic policy, political communication, or progressive advocacy

    COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $110,000. Salary is determined based on internal and market equity, internal and market data/salary ranges, and the applicant's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We reserve the right to pay above or below the posted wage based on factors unrelated to sex, race, or any other protected classification.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid medical/dental/vision coverage for employees, a 401k retirement plan with generous contribution, and flexible paid time off.

    THE CIVIC VENTURES EXPERIENCE

Our work isn’t easy, and our work experience is often impacted by what is happening in the political cycles. There are periods where we work long hours. But we give high deference to family responsibilities, strive to protect weekends, and mostly manage to keep work corralled within a 40-hour week. Basically, we believe it is possible to do meaningful work, have impact, and get to see loved ones regularly. For full-time employees (30+ hours per week), we pay 100% of health insurance premiums for you and your family; we have a generous 401k safe harbor contribution; we encourage vacation days and follow the Seattle school district’s holiday schedule.

A team that embodies the diverse experiences of our communities is essential to the work we do. We strongly and sincerely encourage applications from people of color; immigrant, bilingual, and multicultural individuals; d/Deaf people and people with disabilities; members of LGBTQIA+ and gender non-conforming communities; and people with other diverse backgrounds and lived experiences.”
