Hospice of South Georgia and Langdale Hospice House began in 1987 when a small group of volunteers developed a passion and vision to bring comfort and dignity to life's final journey. These individuals began this endeavor inside a janitor's close in the basement of our local hospice. AS the word of hospice spread through the community, Hospice of South Georgia blossomed to become the first hospice organization with a full staff of employees.
Volunteers are the "heart of hospice!" Without volunteers Hospice of Hospice of South Georgia would not exist. After receiving intensive training, volunteers provide non-medical services to our patients and families. We are looking for volunteers to assist with any number of roles within our organization: Respite care and companionship, running errands, reading/letter writing, tele-caring - calling patients and families by telephone to make sure needs are met, greeting and visiting patients and loved ones at our Langdale Hospice House. Other opportunities available include: grief support, office or clerical help, assistance with special needs, public relations and fundraising and veteran to veteran companionship.
