Our volunteers offer terminally ill patients and their families comfort, support, and
companionship during a patient’s most challenging days, weeks, and months. Volunteers are
here not only for the patient, but also their caregivers.
A few of what’s Offered and Ways Patient and Family Can Benefit from Volunteers
• Listening to a patient’s concerns
• A comforting and supportive presence
o Hold a hand
o Listen to cherished memories
o Bake a cake
o Pat a shoulder
o Give a hug
o Touch a heart
o Change a life (maybe even your own)
• Engaging in a patient’s hobbies (playing a board game, painting nails, discussing current events, etc.)
• Informing other hospice staff of the needs of the hospice patient and family
