  • About Us

The Green Energy Justice Cooperative is a community-driven, community solar cooperative operating under the Illinois Power Agency's Illinois Shines program and registered as a member-owned cooperative within the State of Illinois. Our mission is to provide clean, affordable energy to predominately low- and middle-income subscribers throughout the state. Our cooperative model means that subscribers are part owners in our solar developments and receive energy credits and dividends via the sale of solar energy to the state's utility. Subscription to our solar projects is free, though we are required to charge a one-time membership fee for membership to the cooperative, which is only $5 for a low-income subscriber.
