Back Office for Organizing in Michigan (BOOM) LLC

BOOM LLC provides the backend finance, administrative and HR service functions for our network of nonprofit organizations and sponsored projects. Founded by leaders from 482Forward, the Michigan Education Justice Coalition and the Urban Core Collective, BOOM serves as a backoffice hub to meet the growing needs of base building organizations, allowing them to focus on programmatic and organizing priorities.

BOOM supports the growth of a local movement ecosystem by executing administrative and background work so that partners hold the necessary capacity for programmatic and organizing priorities. ​As conditions pivot and demands rise, movement organizing is stronger and faster when supported by BOOM.

While BOOM LLC does not organize grassroots members, the projects and partners with whom we work are deeply grounded in that work and orientation. ​We believe that those “closest to the pain are closest to the power.” Capitalism, patriarchy, and white supremacy have shaped a society of gross inequities, in which working-class, BIPOC and other marginalized communities exercise the least amount of power. We prioritize social justice and community-based organizations so they remain at the center of social change efforts.
