The JobUp is a work-readiness accelerator for internationally educated and/or trained Italian immigrants in New York who experience roadblocks to occupational relaunch. The program teaches how to navigate the local job market through contextualized English-language classes and employment orientation resources. Instruction helps participants both to lower language barriers and increase their understanding of workplace culture in the U.S.
Born as an engagement journalism initiative, The JobUp was created to fill information gaps that influence the socio-professional integration of new Americans. It was launched at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
