AseraCare Hospice volunteers enhance quality of life and reduce the burden of caregiving by providing different types of support to patients and their families. Some volunteer programs include pet therapy, companionship, music, bereavement, and vigil volunteers. To be a volunteer you have to have a background check, drug screen, and TB test. We also have a Vet to Vet program, where veterans can provide companionship therapy with other veterans on hospice. AseraCare Hospice has received accreditation for quality home and community care by the Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP).
Companionship volunteers simply spend time with patients, provide emotional support, caregiver relief, house keeping, bereavement, running errands and many more. Many facilities such as nursing homes and senior centers ask for volunteers to come and play bingo, sing, paint. If you are a veteran and can share your story or help comfort a veteran in their transition, WE WANT YOU!
