Offbeat Travel

Offbeat Travel is a consortium of locally operated travel suppliers providing community oriented travel experiences for individuals, groups, and families. We specialize in experiences that highlight local communities, and contribute to them in a positive manner. This can be through a hands on project or through the economic impact we have. Our team is comprised of Dominicans and Costa Ricans who love their country, and want to show you just how much.

We create as much good as possible in the communities we visit and provide meaningful experiences to our travelers, all while protecting our planet. We work with local partners to design community development projects that address expressed needs in a responsible and sustainable way. We involve community members from beginning to end, to ensure that our projects are as impactful as possible. We harness the energy of our travelers who provide resources and volunteer labor while at the same time learning and growing as individuals. We carry out monitoring and evaluation before, during, and after the projects to ensure we are contributing to long-lasting positive impact in each community. We care for the planet by reducing the negative effects of travel. We avoid single-use products, work with environmentally responsible vendors, recycle as much as we can, and mitigate the environmental risks in our projects. We make travel a force for good.
